DB Encryption

DB Encryption

Created By: John Solis

Date Happened: July 27, 2022

Components: N/A

Findings:
  1. What are the supported Operating Systems?
  2. What will happen if the CM is down? Does it mean that the database can't access the encrypted folders?
  3. How long does the key cache in the server?
  4. During the key rotation, do we still need to stop the DB service and proceed with the key rotation?
  5. What would happen if you accidentally deleted a GuardPoint?
  6. Things to be done before removing the GuardPoints.
Resolution:

  1. Please see below link for the supported OS and Kernel version.
  1. There will be no impact on the database since the key is cached on the server.
  2. Until the server restarts.
  3. No need to stop the service.
  4. There's a risk of data corruption if there's any writing to unguarded data. That is why it ask for your confirmation if you really want to unguard the folder
