Root Cause: Can't bind certificate on MS SQL Server 2012



Findings:

  1. No configuration on the registry for FQDN
  2. the certificate to bind is not a FQDN 


Resolution:
  1. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
    "Domain"="samplecert.com"
    "NV Domain"="samplecert.com"
  2. create certificate on the Venafi
  3. certificate must be a FQDN
  4. push the certificate on the IIS Server
  5. Automatically bind the certificate on the SQL Configuration Manager
