Root Cause: Error code (2049) cannot perform replica initialization. Key protection file already exists

Findings: 
  1. A replica server initially should only have a masterkeys.enc file. During the initialization process, the masterkeys.kpf file is generated.
Resolution:
  1. This system may already be initialized. Confirm that a re-initialization really is necessary.
